Primed Green Breville Smoothies Rock.

I love a great Primed Green Smoothie for breakfast, lunch and even dinner.

A great blender is important and the best I have used is from Breville.

Ingredients:

  • Cool, super efficient Breville blender
  • Lots of greens like spinach, mustard greens etc. Use what is local and fresh
  • Aloe vera (we have aloe vera on our verandah and it grows easily)
  • Lemon juice
  • Fresh chopped Ginger
  • Saba banana (optional because the more bitter the better!)
  • Malunggay powder from Rasco’s called Rasco’s Moringa. See this cool link on Moringa

Primed Dr. Annabelle Nutrient Loaded Green Smoothie

I am inspired, excited and delighted. Dr. Annabelle is rocking it.

Yes, there are improvements to be made but wonderful results are eye-popingly obvious.

I personally noticed the following:

  • Looks at least 10 to 15 years younger;
  • Glowing skin;
  • More vibrancy in her eyes and demeanor; and
  • Confidence in the Primed program and knows her next steps for continued improvements.

Dr. Annabelle said:

  • A lot more energy;
  • Improved sleep;
  • Less aches and pains;
  • Constant blood sugar levels of less than 100 (means less inflammation);
  • Happier with peace of mind regarding her nutrition;
  • No rice at all but needs to totally eliminate grains which she finds addictive;
  • People are noticing her increased zest for life;
  • People commenting that she looks very healthy; and
  • Her memory is improving. Wow. That’s huge.
  • Oh, also building her immune system to better fight disease and illness.

I am dedicating this Primed Annabelle Green Smoothie to Annabelle. She ROCKS.

Primed Chewy Green Smoothie

This great Primed Chewy Smoothie is in honor of Chewy. He is the cute dog pictured below. Just looking at him makes you smile.

I named it Primed Chewy Smoothie because the only way you can “drink” it is to chew. It is actually delicious with a creamy coconut finish that is made even better knowing how well I am feeding my body and mind. I had my Primed Chewy Green Smoothie before a lunch meeting with a potential Corporate Wellness client because I wanted the nutrition to better fuel my positive energy and thoughts.

Remember that for proper digestion you must chewy your food well.

Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee with Coconut Milk

I love a nice Primed Coffee. It is either a double espresso or a Primed Iced Coffee in the Philippines heat.

I even made sure to have a Primed Iced Coffee waiting for me in my fridge after my Malaysian Ironman and Melbourne Ironman. This great drink served a dual purpose as: (a) A drink to look forward to after the race; and (b) To aid my recovery due to the great fats in the coconut milk.

Ingredients 1: Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee

Iced  Cinnamon Coffee ingredients

6 teaspoons of coffee
1/2 glass of home-made coconut milk
2 glasses of water
ground cinnamon spice
ice cubes

We use cinnamon sticks bought from an Indian grocery shop along Jupiter Street and then grind them in our grinder. You can also buy the cinnamon shaker from the spice rack where you normally shop.

It is Very Easy to Make your Own Coconut Milk

See how easy here.

Ingredients 2: Iced Coffee with Coconut Sugar

Iced Coffee ingredients

6 teaspoons of coffee
1/2 glass of coconut milk
2 glasses of water
coconut sugar to taste (or quality honey) – both optional only
ice cubes

Method:

Pretty simple of course but I dissolve my coffee in a little hot water, add ice cubes, add coconut milk, add cinnamon (or coconut sugar or both) and add water. Then stir and serve. Easy, yet delicious and nutritious.

It is an excellent accompaniment for a Primed breakfast.

Iced Coffee Breakfast

Eggs and bacon are always a favorite in the morning with my Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee.

Equally fabulous is chicken thigh topped with tomato and grilled cheese on a bed of chili zucchini “noddles” with my Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee.

The health benefits of Coconut Milk are very long and far reaching.

Coconut Oil Rocks Too

I often have a shot of Virgin Coconut Oil before having my Primed Iced Coffee. If I have my coffee hot then I put the shot into my black coffee with a splash of coconut milk.

Friendly advice: Do not add coconut oil to your Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee. It becomes solid and is not easy or pleasant to drink cold. I have made this very mistake before. Twice!

Coconut liquid breakfast

Having a delicious Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee is very filling and satisfying and can even serve as a meal replacement for breakfast if you wanted to slowly ease yourself into Regular Intelligent Fasting and experience the unique health benefits associated with it.

Some other great reasons to fast include the way it helps regulate your insulin as explained in this fabulous graph provided by Washington Dr. Ted Naiman from Burn Fat Not Sugar.

Dr. Ted’s graph is backed up by the slide of Canadian Dr. Jason Fung who cures his patients of their Type 2 Diabetes.

Malunggay “Miracle Tea” from the “Miracle Tree”

I am a big fan of malunggay. It is inexpensive, nutritious and tastes great in dishes like Omelette with Berries or Tomatoes, Vegetable Sheets Lasagne, Tuna Patties with Squash and in a Primed Fruit Smoothie.

Malunggay Tea_Primed_for_your_life

Malunggay should be known as the rich man’s vegetable due to the huge list of health benefits such as it can help reduce cholesterol and triglycerides, CONTROL BLOOD SUGAR, and offer anti-aging and anti-inflammatory substances, many of which have anti-cancer properties. No wonder the Moringa/Malunggay Tree is known as the Miracle Tree.

Well, as we know it is great in food but maybe even better as a tea. There is significantly higher nutritional value in the malunggay dried leaf, in some cases over ten times in specific nutrients when compared to fresh Malunggay leaf.

Malunggay tea is Primed1

It is very easy to dry out your malunggay leaves and make your Malunggay Tea. Simply pick your malunggay leaves off their stems and spread them over a large tray. We use our pizza trays. Let it dry out over 4 days. Occasionally stir it with a spoon so it dries out evenly. Talking lovingly to your malunggay leaves also adds to the nutrient density of your Malunggay Tea!

Malunggay tea is Primed2

After your 4 days you can then place in a very low heated oven for 10 minutes to get any remaining moisture out of the leaves. Then simply place in a sealed container and you are ready to start making your delicious and nutritious Malunggay Tea.

Lets Make Malunggay Tea

Once you have your dried Malunggay leaves it is very easy to make tea.

Simply spoon a table spoon of your Malunggay leaves into a cup of hot water and allow to sit for 10 minutes. Once the color and nutrients have been absorbed into your water simply remove the leaves and sit back and enjoy your tea in the knowledge that it is helping your body in a plethora of ways.  A strainer also makes this process easier.

Malunggay Tea

Flavored Malunggay Tea

You can add additional flavor to your tea by squeezing in lemon or calamansi juice.  We freeze some lemons and oranges and grate in the fruit to our cup.

You can add a dash of honey to your plain Malunggay Tea or your Citrus enhanced Malunggay Tea.

Iced Malunggay Tea

Our family loves a nice cold Malunggay Iced Tea in the heat of the Philippines summer (11 months of the year) and simply make the above tea concoctions in larger quantities then add ice or place in the fridge to get cool.

Turmeric Honey Lemon Iced Tea

You can play around with many varieties of fruits and spices to create a Malunggay Iced Tea to suit your taste. I like to add a tea spoon of Turmeric, squeeze of Lemon and Dash of Honey to my jug of Malunggay Iced Tea.

Malunggay Tea with Turmeric and Honey

The health benefits of Turmeric include reducing inflammation in the body naturally. Turmeric can also be used a preventative measure against diseases like Alzheimer’s, Cancer and Arthritis as evidenced by what Dr. Andrew Weil shares below:

Reviewing some 700 studies, Duke concluded that turmeric appears to outperform many pharmaceuticals in its effects against several chronic, debilitating diseases, and does so with virtually no adverse side effects.

Malungay, the rich man’s vegetable!

Malunggay used to be known as the poor man’s vegetable in the Philippines. Maybe it is true with respect to material wealth, but those who eat a lot of malunggay are rich in health due to the myriad of health benefits derived from this abundant and wondrous small leaf.

The malunggay tree is known as the miracle tree for good reason. The leaves, stem and even roots have properties that have some of these benefits: anti-ageing, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, increase sperm count and beauty/skin treatment among others.

Kale and Pineapple Smoothie At Nurture Wellness Village in Tagaytay

I like kale but a lot of people do not. My daughter Lauren is not a fan of kale and never wants to have it again!

The fact that it is very, very good for you will not make up for the fact that some people just don’t like the taste as they find it too rich, bitter and powerful on the taste buds.

What if you can make a delicious and nutritious smoothie that incorporates this nutritious food into your diet?

At Nurture Wellness Village I enjoyed one of the most delightful smoothies I have ever tried. It was so good that I actually had 2.

The owner, Cathy, tells of a delightful story where a 9 year old girl, sipping on a Kale and Pineapple Smoothie, exclaimed to her Mum, “I love Kale juice!”

I will be taking my daughter and son there hoping they too might have the same response.

Kale smoothie3

To make the smoothie simply blend ice, de-stemmed kale leaves and pineapple.

The great thing about getting your kale smoothie or buying your kale from Nurture Wellness Village is that it is organic and great quality. Kale is also excellent inside an Omelette with Berries.

If you are in Tagaytay enjoying the cooler weather there drop in and experience Nurture’s Spa or Wellness treatments, lunch or dinner, or even a delicious Kale and Pineapple Smoothie in their beautiful and relaxing garden setting.
