Chad’s 10km Personal Best at New Balance Power Run in a Ketogenic Fasted State

39:39 for my new 10km personal best at the New Balance Fun Run.

New Balance Power Run

Only 10 people beat 40 minutes and I was glad to be one of them. Pretty sure I was the first white guy. Haha.

I did the 10km in a fasted state (no dinner or breakfast) and no water during the race. No worries as I was well nourished and hydrated beforehand. ‪#‎NewBalanceShoes‬ ‪#‎SanteBarleyTriTeam‬ ‪#‎SoleusPhilippines‬

I had fun meeting up with Sante Barley teammates Junrox and Chris. It is always cool catching up with Raul. He’s the man. Hoping to run a sub 3:25 at his Condura Skyway Marathon next year.

The Day After My Sub 40 Minute New Balance 10km Race I Ran 40km During a 30 Hour Fast (Easily)

Fasting4

Regular Intelligent Fasting rocks. It is only possible once Primed for your Life as your food satisfies you and energizes you so you can easily last the fast.

I ran 40km to and from potential Primed corporate clients in a fasted state. Only fueled by Primed Cinnamon Iced Coffee and a shot of Virgin Coconut Oil.

Ten Easy Ways to Improve Your Running Performance by Elite Primed Runner Andy Pope

Ten Easy Ways to Improve Your Running Performance. Guest post from elite Primed runner Andy Pope.

1. Train, don’t just run.

It’s fun to run just to get out but dedicate one or two sessions a week to speed work, hill work or fartleks. Just adding extra effort to parts of your runs makes a big difference.

2. Join a club.

The social part of being a member of a Club is enjoyable, you are more likely to race (and therefore set goals) and a bit of peer pressure will help push you along.

3. Read.

There is a ton of good information in articles and books. Books are inspirational and thought provoking, a couple to get you started – Running with the Kenyans by Adharanand Finn or Running Beyond the Marathon by Grahak Cunningham.

4. Go Primed for your Life.

Control your weight by what you eat: Lots of veg, grass fed meats, fish, healthy fats, berries, nuts, good whole foods; cook in coconut oil.

5. Eat less of….

Any carbs – especially pasta, noodles, rice and bread. Any sugar (including most fruit). Processed food. Any fast food. Don’t use any type of vegetable oil.

Running Safety tips - Carbie

6. Hydrate with….

Natural or Homemade drinks and gels (water, calamansi juice, buko juice…). Learn to hydrate as and when you need to; don’t over hydrate.

Water rocks

7. Distance isn’t everything.

The trend to go ultra can make a marathon or ultra-marathon seem like what you “have to” do. Enjoy shorter distances and the sense of achievement that comes with any race and even if you are training for a long race you don’t have to rack up dozens of miles each week – quality not quantity.

8. Eccentric Core.

Do a core workout once a week. This should be eccentric exercises and shouldn’t take more than half an hour.

Eccentric Gym Lauren

9. Rest and sleep.

Don’t underestimate the power of rest and sleep. To be still running in the couple of days lead up to a race or competition is quite simply madness… enjoy the days off… and the extra power and energy you will derive from it. Try and sleep for at least seven hours a night.

Sleep rocks

10. Cross Train and/or add variety.

Break it up. Swim; Bike; Yoga; Gym… or just run somewhere new.

Thanks for the Great Hints Andy Pope.

Primed Mango Mousse with Coconut Milk

Here is an easy Primed recipe that tastes great. I personally would only have a tablespoon seeing I wish to avoid the fruit sugars in the mango, but my children really enjoy this as a nice treat every now and then. It takes around 5 minutes to prepare and can last for a couple of days in the fridge. You could even put it in the freezer for a cooler version.

Ingredients

Mango Chia Pudding

Mangoes
Bananas (optional)
Coconut milk or cream (see here how you can DIY coconut milk)
Chia seeds
Crushed nuts (optional)

Mango Chia Pudding1

Method

1. Simply cut your mangoes into small chunks, add coconut milk and then chia seeds. Stir in then place into fridge.

Mango Chia Pudding2

2. There are no quantities as this is a dessert/snack for you to play around with seeing you can add more or less of any ingredient depending on your tastes and/or budget. Hence, less chia seeds if you are on a budget seeing they are relatively expensive. Use less mangoes if you have metabolic issues and are more intolerant to the sugars in fruit.

5 Top Primed Stories for 2015

I am delighted that the Primed for your Life Lifestyle is helping people improve their lives worldwide. The Primed posts are read in over 140 countries with Primed clients in countries such as Canada, Australia, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and a host of others.

Here are the Top 5 articles this year with a special thanks to cardiologist and New York Times best selling author Dr. William Davis for sharing many articles on his Wheat Belly facebook page.

1. Wheat baby! The Painful Condition of Accidentally Eating Grains/Gluten Once Off It

Wheat Baby10

Thanks also to my beautiful and talented tummy model.

Once you give up grains/wheat you CANNOT go back because once the “poison” is out of your system your body will react badly if this “poison” is reintroduced. This is surely proof positive that these grains are “poison” to your system.

2. Cheat in your Triathlon and you are cheating more than just yourself

Ronald is Primed and Loving It – His Family Too

Ronald rocks. He is a great family man with a big heart. I am so proud that the Primed Lifestyle is helping make this top man’s heart stronger. Oh, his brain too. Doubly proud that because of Ronald’s great decision his family is also getting healthier too.

I had a great lunch at The Wholesome Table with Trimac teammates Ron, Chloe and Emerson

Ronald Primed Ronald teammates

We ate no bread but kept the butter to add into our food. Of course we had real food and not fake food like bread, pasta, noodles and other sugar cheap carbs.

Ronald Primed 5

Here is a 12 Point Summary of What Ron Said

1. Ron researched Primed LCHF after sustaining an injury training for triathlons because he wanted to ensure he would not gain excess weight. Ron had previously mistakenly believed that he had to exercise a lot to maintain a healthy weight but was soon to learn differently.

Here is some of the delicious real food Ron ate to lose weight and regain health.

2. Ron found his food to be very filling and satisfying. Hence, he was not hungry at all and ate less.

3. Ron’s Acid Reflux disappeared. Cool.

4. Ron lost weight despite not exercising at all.

5. Ron’s inspiration was his beautiful family. He is pictured here with his beautiful wife Romina. Ron started his Primed/LCHF journey in March 2015.

Br. Normandy of De La Salle is Loving His Primed Lifestyle

From Brother Normandy – “I’m really grateful to have heard of the Primed lifestyle 5 months ago. It really opened up possibilities for me.”

“Well, I’ve lost count how many people have commented on how good I look and the great changes they see in me.”

“I am looking forward to your Primed seminar at De La Salle this Saturday. Thanks.”

• Blood sugar (180++) and Blood
Pressure (140/100++) off the charts

Also from Br. Normandy:

Hey Chad! You always have impeccable timing. My blood sugar clocked in at 99 this morning. The lowest I’ve had in years! the other day though, I made the mistake of eating rice, somehow it just felt all wrong in my mouth and my tummy. By-the-way my watch and pants are much looser now.”

Top 3 Ways to Better Health (Means Better and Longer Life)

1. Get a Knowledgeable Coach Who Can Train and Motivate You

I make it my mission to help you achieve your goals.

I explain the why and teach you how. It becomes easy and fun to maintain the Primed Lifestyle.

2. Jump off The Sugar Roller Coaster (Grains = Sugar in your body)

Sugar coaster

A cool way to do this is by eating more eggs and green vegetables as this then crowds out the cheap carbage.

I teach you how sugar harms you. There is no doubt about it. The sugar spikes and crashes hurts your body and brain. It could also lead you to become overfed and undernourished which reduces your immune systems ability to fight illness.

Did you know that bread, pasta and noodles = sugar in your body?

3. Examine your Why?

Inspirational Tony Robins

I help you identify your goals, keep them in focus as we go through the many Primed Protocols that ensure you reach them. And then maintain them.

The Final Word

Here is my initial reply to asking if I could help Normandy, the other Brothers of De La Salle and the children in their care.

“We can. I am passionate about helping people (children in particular) about getting healthy so as to improve the quality and quantity of their lives. My program absolutely does that. If your brothers follow it and live the Primed Lifestyle your example will help others with both their mental and physical well being. The information is priceless as you cannot put a price on health, happiness and longevity. I want to help EVERYONE in the Philippines. They deserve to be happy and healthy.”

Primed Cabbage Carbonara

Here’s a great Primed Cabbage Carbonara dish involving 2 of my favorites: Bacon and Coconut Milk. You can easily substitute the chicken for the bacon or go vegetarian by adding roasted squash/pumpkin.

Ingredients:

Cabbage Carbonara9

1 large head of cabbage (take out the core)
lots of onions
lots of garlic (the more the merrier)
some green chilis
some red chilis (if you like extra spice in your life)
1/2 to full cup of coconut milk (depending upon how saucy you want your dish)
5 to 6 pieces of quality bacon (we buy ours from S&R)

Method:

1. Cut your cabbage into long strips. Dice your onions, garlic, green and red chilis.

2. Steam your cabbage until it is wilted but not too soft. Fry your pieces of bacon at the same time.
