Are You Dressed to Kill: Limit Using Your Bra and Perhaps Limit Your Chance of Breast Cancer

“The Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Southeast Asia. Breast cancer is also one of the leading causes of death among Filipino women. Most women with breast cancer have no known risk factors except that they are women. So no one should be exempt from being vigilant.” From I Can Sere foundation.

I believe it is false that the causes of breast cancer are unknown. Hopefully we might learn that ladies could limit their chances with smarter (or no) bra wearing, avoiding soy products, finding better alternatives to mammograms and building your immune system through optimal nutrition.

Please listen to this great podcast. Important for men too.

Cultural genetic disease means we accept what’s normal without questioning it. It is embedded in who we are and how we think as a culture. Well, it is time to question all the information we have been fed and told. Remember the medical industry and drug companies profit greatly from our disease.

95% of all cancers are caused by environmental factors

Chad’s Sick then Fat Food and Exercise in 2013 compared with Healthy and Fit 2015

I was once a sick, then fat, athlete. I was training too much (up to 25 hours per week) with a misguided formula to be fit and healthy.

I was eating the Standard Australian Diet (SAD) with lots of “healthy whole grains” (there is no such thing) and fueling my exercise with the sugarades, sugar gels and the carbo loading (sugar bread, pasta and noodles) that my fellow athletes were also doing (not the smarter ones though like Jenson Button).

Below is how I looked like with all my excessive cardio (cost of time, money, mental energy, sleep, recovery etc.). I have also included what were then my favorite food.

I was not healthy, vital or as happy as I should have been. I suffered from brain fog, lack of energy and sometimes bad skin.

#Chad sick then fat

Now I train a maximum of 6 hours per week on average, eat according to the Primed Lifestyle and have more energy and mental clarity than I ever imagined.

Santi’s Delicious Primed Selections

We have been buying excellent produce from Santi’s Deli for almost the entire 15 years we have been in the Philippines. We also dine there quite often and now it is a favorite place for me to meet my new Primed clients. The service is always friendly, the prices fair and reasonable with a lot of variety of products to suit a wide audience.

Lauren and Christian love the Santi’s sausages and Natasha and I love their Lamb.

Is Sitting Too Much the New Smoking? Probably. LifeSpan Workplace Has the Solution

Stand up desk fi

Yes, it is possible to get fit and stay healthy during your working hours with the right knowledge, attitude and equipment.

To find out more about LifeSpan WorkPlace Solutions please contact Alfred at alfred@lightnup.ph, or friend him on his facebook page or text him on 0998-985-3013.

Sitting Too Long Is Not Natural or Healthy

To beat the sitting too much conundrum you can employ many tactics like:

(1) Top your water bottle up every hour whether empty or not;

Stand up desk14

(2) Go to the toilet more (this will happen once you start drinking more water);

(3) Stand to answer the phone or make a call:

(4) Use a stand up desk for portions of the day. See below the many examples of where you can have a make shift desk that can go under your computer when you want to stand or be removed when you want to sit; and

(5) Set the alarm on your phone for every hour to remind you to stand and move your butt.

See here for some more ideas to “Be fit, not fat at work”.

Greasing the Groove

A lot of people exercise too much. This eats into their family time, time for self and time for work. It can be counter productive and there is a way to maintain your fitness even whilst on the job.

It is called greasing the groove where you are simply a lot more active during the day therefore eliminating the need for excessive cardio activities after work. I have heard it said that by simply using a stand up desk you are doing the equivalent of 6 marathons a year. That’s cool.

Imagine then the enormous benefits of using a treadmill desk or biking desk as shown in the pictures?

Stand up desk12

My beautiful daughter really enjoyed doing her work on the bike. She said it actually was fun and helped stimulate and invigorate her. Indeed, research shows that by simply moving more during the learning process you retain more information.

20 City Running/Walking Safety Tips

Now that we live in Pasig City I am running all over the country to and from places like Makati, Quezon City, Paranaque and even old Manila.
When you have new and different routes to run it presents a lot of new challenges in terms of safety and running enjoyment.

It does not matter what country you are running in you need to think and plan ahead before putting on your favorite pair of shoes and hitting the street.

Here are my Top 20 Tips on Running Safety in No Order of Importance

1. When night running in the Philippines:

(a) Wear bright clothing so people notice you more and call out “Hey Joe” (most white people are called Joe in the Philippines – haha); (b) Carry small weights so you have something nice to give if being held up (never argue or fight with anyone as you do not know who and where their friends are); (c) Do some Coconut oil pulling for a fresher and cleaner mouth.

2. Beware of the Dog:

Even the small dogs because their bark can really startle you and pump you full of cortisol. More dangerous of course are the bigger dogs so I simply cross to the other side of the street or ensure someone who is tastier is between me and them!

Beware of the dog1

3. Beware of the Person:

Generally you should trust no one and if seeing any one slightly suspicious treat them like you would a rabid dog. Cross the street, turn around or run away flat out. In Australia I have run with sand in my pocket and would use that as a first line of defense before running if attacked. It happens, so it is best not be naive and to be on guard. The picture below was taken at midday in Adelaide, Australia when an obviously drug affected guy walked past us. I put myself between him and my darlings and was super alert.

L&C

Ensure you take out an ear plugs if sensing danger and never wear earplugs if not absolutely certain of the safety of your surroundings.
