5. Cholesterol Craziness

When did heart disease start getting out of control? Precisely when society switched from stable, saturated fats to vegetable and seed oils. This switch came via the saturated fat and cholesterol scare prompted by Ancel Keys and the bogus lipid hypothesis, which purported to link saturated fat and high cholesterol with heart disease.

That myth has been thoroughly debunked, yet we’re still suffering the consequences of the scare. In fact, it’s still being pushed today by Big Agriculture — the people who produce these oils — and government institutions who are funded by Big Agriculture.

The craziness is that vegetable oils are promoted as improving cholesterol. What vegetable oils do in many cases is reduce total cholesterol numbers. What nobody told you is that total cholesterol numbers are meaningless. 75% of heart attack patients have a lipid panel that does not indicate high risk for heart attack. Relying on total cholesterol numbers (which is the standard panel) is worse than flipping a coin.

So, what does matter? The size and type of cholesterol is what matters. And while vegetable oils may lower total cholesterol, they skew the size and type of the particles in the wrong direction. 6 Reasons to Avoid Toxic Vegetable Oils – Part 2

2. Lopsided Omega-6 to Omega-3 Ratios

We all know how important it is to reduce inflammation.

One way is to consume fats that are considered high in omega-3s (O3) rather than high doses of omega-6s (O6) because O3s have the unique ability to calm the flames of systemic inflammation. But that’s not the whole story.

What matters most is our ratio of O3 fats to O6 fats. The optimal ratio is 1 to 1. Many Americans — due to the overconsumption of O6 fats — are hovering around the 30:1 mark.

Vegetable and seed oils are mostly comprised of O6 fats. Even Canola Oil, which is touted as “heart healthy” and “packed with O3 fats” is a poor choice because the O3 fats in Canola Oil are typically rancid by the time you consume them.

A better question might be: “Did you know vegetable oils (actually seed oils) are not fit for human consumption?”

This cool quote from Hippocrates could relate to grains, sugar, non-fermented soy, low-fat stuff and vegetable/seed oils. When you consume these frankenfoods you are doing harm to yourself.

Is ADHD Short for “A Diet Highly Disruptive”?

Graduation from Pembroke College was 30 years ago for me but in many respects it seems like only yesterday.  I still maintain great friendships with Bill Brummitt, Andrew Wallace and Sean Williams among others from that time. One name I never forgot was Cecily Aldersly (now Dunn).

We were mates. In a time of school yard uncertainty her friendship was a constant and I never forgot Cecily despite losing track of each other. On the occasion of our 30 year graduation reunion I decided to track down my young buddy and am so pleased I did.

I’ll let Cecily tell the rest of the story of her whole family becoming healthier and her son Harry no longer having ADHD.:

He was 2 years behind year level and supposedly dyslexic and ADHD, in the last 12 months we have made diet changes but going Primed in the last few months has created a completely new kid. Also he had now lost 10kgs (!!!) has found his schoolwork is easier and has so much energy. He wasn’t obese by any means but he’s a lean, focused and energetic individual these days… they all are!

Great Primed Food at Howzat!

After running (and walking) during the Condura Skyway marathon we decided to treat ourselves to Howzat! We are so glad we did as we loved the great quality food and the excellent, friendly service.

The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful. It is very easy to stay Primed at Howzat! due to the excellent array of beef, lamb, pork, chicken, salads and vegetables.

The salads are super fresh.

Primed Dr. Annabelle Nutrient Loaded Green Smoothie

I am inspired, excited and delighted. Dr. Annabelle is rocking it.

Yes, there are improvements to be made but wonderful results are eye-popingly obvious.

I personally noticed the following:

  • Looks at least 10 to 15 years younger;
  • Glowing skin;
  • More vibrancy in her eyes and demeanor; and
  • Confidence in the Primed program and knows her next steps for continued improvements.

Ingredients:

Annabelle Smoothiefi

  • A lot of greens. Fill your blender with pechay, parsley, romaine lettuce, malunggay, spinach, kangkong, cabbage etc.
  • Ampalaya is a great blood sugar reducing vegetable to add.
  • Fresh ginger and garlic (the more the merrier but optional. You can build these quantities up over time).
  • Coconut milk or coconut cream.
  • Water or coconut water.
  • Spices like turmeric, pepper, Himalayan salt or cinnamon.
  • Banana (optional).
  • Frozen berries (optional).
  • Seeds like pumpkin seeds and chia seeds.
  • Nuts like walnuts, cashews and almonds. You can soak your almonds in water overnight then drain, add more water and blend. this would make almond milk.
  • Super foods like Spirulina.

It is not always about the before and after picture. Yes, it is nice to see the physical changes and maybe even get a 6-pack.
