Primed Berns Tan is Number 1

Here is a Primed story from Ironwoman Berns Tan. Berns recently stood on top place of the podium for Century Tuna Ironman 70.3 held on March 8th, 2015 at Subic Bay. Congratulations Berns.

Hey Chad!

After our fabulously delicious lunch at The Wholesome Table:

What I ate most of the time:

1. Coffee, no sugar, with either VCO or coconut milk (thanks for teaching me how to make my own home-made coconut milk)

2. Eggs with cheese or home made corned beef

Primed for your Life Inspirational Derek Ackary

G’day Mate,

Thanks for adding my before and after pic to your facebook/instagram. Hopefully I can be a source of inspiration to others.

Derek Ackary before and after

Here’s my story:

Two of my best mates passed away recently, both within 9 months of each other. My first mate died one week before his 49th birthday in November 2013. He was massively overweight and led a fairly unorthodox lifestyle, and didn’t exercise. Being with him made me feel that if he could live that way, so could I, even though deep down, I knew it was leading to a path of destruction. But then I was in for a bigger shock 9 months after he passed on…

My other mate had a better lifestyle – he made efforts to eat well and exercise, but was a massive smoker and under lots of stress from his job. He died in August 2014, 8 months after turning 50. This left me absolutely shattered.

Two of my best all time mates, two of the best blokes you would ever meet, gone within 9 months of each other. Both of these guys were actually also mates and left us well before their time with various complications, as opposed to dying of “natural” causes. However, it was the second death happening so soon after the first that motivated me to take action for myself.

Primed Banana Heart with Home-made Coconut Milk

Populations That Eat a LOT of Coconut Are Among The Healthiest People on The Planet

The best example of such a population is the Tokelauans, which live in the South Pacific. They eat over 60% of their calories from coconuts and are the biggest consumers of saturated fat in the world. These people are in excellent health, with no evidence of heart disease.

I recently learned about Delia (pictured below and looking excellent for 56 years young) who’s grandparents Filamina and Juan Costovo who lived to 100 plus each in the city of Tacloban on the island of Leyte, Eastern Visayas in the Philippines. Farmer's Market

Filamina and Juan ate a lot of coconut products like Coconut Milk, lots of fresh vegetables (especially malunggay), eggs and seafood. Most of these items are high in quality saturated fats. Here is one of their favorite dishes of Banana Heart cooked with Home-made Coconut Milk.

Join the Stand Up Desk Revolution and Live Longer (Hopefully!)

Leading a sedentary lifestyle and sitting down excessively is said to be as bad for your health as smoking. The simple message from a lot of health professionals is the longer you stand, the longer you live.

Be like Ironman Vic and try to incorporate more standing in your life. If you want to try this yourself, you might want to gradually ease into it as it takes a little getting used to.

Vic's Stand up desk

Vic said “I got mine from one of those Japanese Surplus shops. Lots of options to choose from based on your needs.
And easier to decide to cut the legs (if necessary) since its 2nd hand.  Also try Dona Soledad in Better Living Paranaque. They have a branch in Alabang, Zapote Road.”

5 Benefits of Using a Stand-Up Desk

(1) You live longer. A piece in the NY Times mentioned that sitting for extended periods of time is strongly linked with increased mortality and metabolic syndrome, regardless of how much exercise a sitter gets. It is estimated that people sit up to 12 hours a day during working hours, commuting, eating and watching tv. You cannot simply exercise away your sedentary work habit of sitting all day as your exercise will not undo the damage done by excessive sitting.

Primed Boiled Eggs – The Secret to Easily Peeled Perfect Eggs

Buy Organic Eggs from Cubao Farmer’s Market or Your Local Market

So, just find quality eggs at your local Farmer’s Market and buy them. Our household of 4 consumes around 6 dozen eggs per week. My cholesterol is most excellent too by-the-way. I eat a lot more eggs now compared to what I did in 2013 and my results have improved a lot since then.

Please see the following with my cholesterol results, some youtube information and further cholesterol explanation. Cholesterol letter.

Please see here from author, neurologist and 30 year clinician and scientific researcher Dr. David Perlmutter as to why Eggs are indeed healthy. It is called “Whole Eggs vs. Egg Whites. Which is Healthier?”

Primed Salmon and Zucchini Burgers 3-Ways

A delicious Burger is a nutritious food item you can enjoy as part of your Primed Lifestyle.

My favorite Primed Burger when dining out is the fabulous grass-fed beef burger at The Wholesome Table in BGC. To make your burger Primed simply ask the wait staff or chef to add salad and/or vegetables instead of the highly processed GMO chemically enhanced bun and artery clogging “vegetable” oil soaked fries.

Here is an easy to make and delicious Primed Salmon and Zucchini Burger you can make for yourself and your family. I previously used Tuna and Squash to make my Primed Patties.

More Primed Lunch Box Items so as to Feed and Teach Your Children Well

How can you teach your children well without providing them proper nutrition?  The short answer is that you cannot.  Proper, optimal nutrition is the building block from which they then can then sleep, recover and function well in body and mind on a daily basis. Listen to this great song called Teach Your Children by Crosby Stills and Nash.

The Wholesome Table is Simply Awesome: 10/10

Welcome to The Wholesome Table, possibly the busiest restaurant in the Fort Bonifacio area. I have been fortunate enough to dine there 5 times in the last 3 weeks and each and every time has seen the place packed. Amazingly, even at 1:30 pm on a Thursday the owner Bianca Elizalde and I only just got a table!

Bianca Elizalde

Being busy is one thing, serving great food is another. I have yet to be any thing but delighted with my high quality food from The Wholesome Table and it is going to get even better with Bianca and Chef Jay letting me know that there will be more Primed items on their soon to be new menu. That’s cool.

The Wholesome Table lapu lapu1

Here is a review across my 5 dining experiences where my Sante Barley teammates Joey Marcelo and Jonah Rivera loved it. My new Primed clients in Marc Daubenbuechel and Andy Pope loved it. My triathlete pals in Berns Tan, Candy Dizon, Dennis Go, Dennis Gan, Hazel Benipay and Majul Maccay also loved it.

That’s 10 out of 10. So, why 10/10? Great food, drinks, ambiance and service.

5 Reasons to Challenge Yourself at Challenge Philippines Triathlon Races

Challenge Philippines was never really on my radar of races to do because the bike is super tough and I am not a good biker. Makes sense in terms of doing races that suit your strengths but I now do races simply for fun and to challenge myself.

Challenge Philippines logo

I first heard about the Challenge races by listening to the famous triathlete Sister Madonna. She said she loves the atmosphere of the Challenge races which convinced me to give Challenge Philippines at Subic Bay on February 22nd a try. I am so glad I listened to you Sister Madonna as I loved it.

Challenge Sister Madonna at Roth

Sister Madonna Buder, a nun from Spokane/Washington, US, 83 years “young”, was the oldest participant in DATEV Challenge Roth, June 2014. Article from here. What do you want to do at 80? I will still be doing triathlons with my wife.
