Teach Your Children To Cook and Unleash Their Inner Super Hero

“Becoming a good cook will do more for your health, body composition, and longevity than any exercise routine, miracle drug, or “diet” in existence.

When you develop the ability to create fresh, mouth-watering, healthy meals for you and your family on command, you have a SUPER POWER.

Guacamole7

In fact, a recent Cambridge study found that people who cook up to 5 times a week are 47% more likely to be alive after 10 years than their non-cooking peers.” From Abel James. Check out Abel’s cool website here.

From Our Primed Friends in Switzerland

Very proud of my girls, they have an app on their iPhone “yummly”, registered themselves as being Primed, found a delicious recipe, and we just had it for dinner, they cooked with my help!”

Once you have your creative base (who needs sugar spiking, anti-nutrient, leaky gut causing bread) simply add your poached egg and then Hollandaise Sauce.

Support Earth Kitchen and Support Local Farmers and Indigenous Communities

Earth Kitchen has opened a second branch in the Fort by popular demand. Their other branch in White Plains, QC is very popular and well loved by many.

Earth Kitchen locations

They have always been known for excellent, healthy, sustainable food that supports local farmers and indigenous communities. This collage was taken from their facebook page linked here: Earth Kitchen.

Earth Kitchen

We went to Earth Kitchen BGC as a belated birthday lunch for Christian who just turned 13.

We loved all our food and found it to be excellent value-for-money. We were guests of Pinky but Earth Kitchen is very affordable with our two salads of Grilled Vegetable Salad (Php 300) and Pomelo Salad (php 360) being large and extremely tasty.

Earth Kitchen food4

Their Soups looked to be really nice with the options being Curried Squash Soup (pumpkin, yoghurt, mint – Php 190), Smoked Tomato Soup (organic smoked tomatoes, cream, gremolata – Php 235) and Fresh Mushroom Soup (organic shitake, button, milky and abalone mushrooms – Php 200).

7 Reasons to Love Japan

I completed my first Ironman late at night in the cold and rain of Hokkaido on the 31st of August 2013. I almost cried as I approached the finish line as I thought of my wife, children and my Ironman journey.

Ironman25

I loved every minute of the very tough race but even better was the whole experience of travelling in Japan and enjoying their culture, the beautiful scenery, delicious food and friendly people.

Japan Ironman will be later this month on August 23rd 2015 and is definitely one to consider for the future.

Our Filipino super triathlete Jong Saljulga is racing this one and we wish him all the best. If any one else is competing in it please email me at chad.davis.1@gmail.com as I’ll be glad to pass along my Japan Ironman 2013 race report.

Good luck Jong.

Quality Food & Service Every Time at Hossein’s

We have been big fans of Hossein’s almost since we arrived in the Philippines 15 years ago. We have tried his branches in Makati, Greenbelt and Serendra and have never been disappointed with excellent food and service every time. No wonder Hossein now also has restaurants in Trinoma and Alabang.

The food is a fabulous combination of Persian, Arabian, Indian and Mediterranean.

Hossein's

The occasion for our visit was for Christian’s 13th birthday and we all counted it as one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. The quality of ingredients and cooking was outstanding.

Hossein's5

Thank you for the Duo of Dips Hossein. I have known Hossein for the whole 14 years we have been going to his restaurants and was even lucky enough to teach his daughter at Enderun Colleges.

We loved these flavorful dips and simply ate them without the Pita Bread. Easy.

The Greek Salad was so fresh, so delicious and truly memorable.

Great Carbohydrates Sunday – Broccoli and Cauliflower “Rice”

I used love rice. Especially white and fluffy, it goes well with so many dishes. I had been eating rice my whole life, especially as a boy when I lived in Singapore and Hong Kong, and even for thefirst 13 years whilst living and working in Manila.

However, with my new Primed Lifestyle, rice (and all grains), are out of my meal plan so I want to find more nutrient dense alternatives.  Alternatives that do not spike my blood sugar too much and leave me more full and satisfied.

Great Carbohydrates Saturday – Sweet Potato Wedges

Sweet Potato Fries are the bomb. They taste sensational, are good for you and go well with any dish. Especially bacon!

If you are carbohydrate intolerant due to having abused them in the past then Sweet Potatoes should not be a staple in your diet but a once in a while item. However, for a healthy person once a week is cool.
