Great Carbohydrates Sunday – Broccoli and Cauliflower “Rice”

I used love rice. Especially white and fluffy, it goes well with so many dishes. I had been eating rice my whole life, especially as a boy when I lived in Singapore and Hong Kong, and even for thefirst 13 years whilst living and working in Manila.

However, with my new Primed Lifestyle, rice (and all grains), are out of my meal plan so I want to find more nutrient dense alternatives.  Alternatives that do not spike my blood sugar too much and leave me more full and satisfied.

Primed Chicken and Pork Adobo with Added Greens

I know Filipino’s LOVE their own cuisine. I also love Filipino dishes such as Primed Kinilaw with Extra Vegetables, but find some do not incorporate enough nutritious vegetables and are overly reliant on rice as a base.

I will try to create delicious and healthy Primed Filipino dishes by substituting non-Primed ingredients with Primed ones, as well as adding non-traditional ingredients to make them a better fuel source for your mind and body. Adobo is one of my favorite dishes so I’ll start with a Chicken, Pork and Wilted Greens Adobo.

Primed Banana Heart with Home-made Coconut Milk

Populations That Eat a LOT of Coconut Are Among The Healthiest People on The Planet

The best example of such a population is the Tokelauans, which live in the South Pacific. They eat over 60% of their calories from coconuts and are the biggest consumers of saturated fat in the world. These people are in excellent health, with no evidence of heart disease.

I recently learned about Delia (pictured below and looking excellent for 56 years young) who’s grandparents Filamina and Juan Costovo who lived to 100 plus each in the city of Tacloban on the island of Leyte, Eastern Visayas in the Philippines. Farmer's Market

Filamina and Juan ate a lot of coconut products like Coconut Milk, lots of fresh vegetables (especially malunggay), eggs and seafood. Most of these items are high in quality saturated fats. Here is one of their favorite dishes of Banana Heart cooked with Home-made Coconut Milk.

Primed Salmon and Zucchini Burgers 3-Ways

A delicious Burger is a nutritious food item you can enjoy as part of your Primed Lifestyle.

My favorite Primed Burger when dining out is the fabulous grass-fed beef burger at The Wholesome Table in BGC. To make your burger Primed simply ask the wait staff or chef to add salad and/or vegetables instead of the highly processed GMO chemically enhanced bun and artery clogging “vegetable” oil soaked fries.

Here is an easy to make and delicious Primed Salmon and Zucchini Burger you can make for yourself and your family. I previously used Tuna and Squash to make my Primed Patties.
