Great Beef at Myron’s Place in Greenbelt 5

I had a most enjoyable Primed lunch at Myron’s Place in Greenbelt 5with 4 other expats on Thursday the 30th April. I did not know that Myron’s is well known for their steaks so I am glad that is what I ordered.

Myrons friends

So, what do 2 Aussies, a Kiwi, a Frenchman and a Dane talk about over lunch?  We all wanted local hero Manny Pacquiao to win against Floyd and we all agreed that the food and ambiance of Myron’s Place is very nice.

Myron’s Place is conveniently located at ground level of Greenbelt 5. The interior design is modern, relaxing and enhanced with the beautiful view of surrounding lush gardens.

Myrons beef duo

My Duet of Bacon-Wrapped Petite US Certified Angus Beef Medallions & Grilled Shrimps was excellent. The waiters gladly substituted the mashed potatoes for extra vegetables which were fabulous. I loved the whole oven-roasted garlic knob. Being Primed I skipped the bread of course.

Mtrons veg dish

The chefs of Myron’s Place gladly served a tasty vegetable plate for someone in our party who was having a protein free day. I was having my wine day as I have committed to enjoying wine/alcohol a maximum of once a week from now on.

Myrons scallops

The food was freshly prepared and enjoyed by all in our group. The staff will gladly substitute your mashed potatoes and fries with vegetables or salad so you can dine Primed.

Please see some examples of their mains and starters below. They also have extensive selections of starters, other mains like pasta and sandwiches and a good wine selection that is reasonably priced.

Do You Really Want Fries With That?

Myrons steak and foi gras

My fellow Aussie had fries with his meal but should be avoided for those enjoying a Primed Lifestyle and anyone wanting to be healthy. The fries are usually cooked in Vegetable Oil which immediately constrict your arteries upon eating them.  See below from respected Dr. of the LA Lakers Cate Shanahan.

Are Vegetable Oils Bad for You?

Veg oil is bad for you

Catherine Shanahan, MD, cites in her book Deep Nutrition a study from New Zealand that showed that subjects who ate french fries from a restaurant fryer displayed immediate harm to their endothelial function of their arteries, going from a normal 7% dilation before eating the french fries to almost NO dilation at all (only 1%) AFTER eating the french fries. This is one thing that can cause a heart attack.

Dr. Shanahan also surveyed hundreds of patients that were admitted to the hospital for a heart attack, and discovered that every single patient that just had a heart attack had consumed foods made with vegetable oils with their last meal before the heart attack. Yikes.

French Fries

Think about that next time you order the fries with that steak on the menu! Simply ask to replace french fries with vegetables or a salad instead. All good restaurants will gladly do so.

Great Wines from Zen Asia

Being an Aussie citizen who was born in New Zealand I am slightly biased towards the wines of Lester Harvey from Zen Asia as he has some wonderful wines from both of these countries.

We loved our wines which were:

– Sons of Eden “Freya” (Eden Valley, South Australia) Riesling 2014

– Spy Valley “ENVOY” (New Zealand) Chardonnay 2009

Envoy

– Sons of Eden “ZEPHYRUS” (Barossa Valley, Sth Aust.) Shiraz/Viognier

For a look at their wine stock and to order please email Lester at lester@zenasiainc.com.
