It is just a few short weeks until the start of the NBA season in the US. Every team trains hard in the off-season looking for an advantage over their opposition. Well, the LA Lakers have done that and are Primed for a great year.
The LA Lakers, Kobe Bryant included, have being following the nutritional plan of Dr. Cate Shanahan, which is very similar to the Primed Lifestyle of fueling your body with optimal nutrition. The diet focuses on using natural fats (not carbohydrates) as the body’s main source of energy.
Kobe Bryant said this philosophy was something that he and his teammates “had to adjust to, but we trust Dr. Cate implicitly. I’ve seen great results from it from when I started doing it last year. Watching your sugar intake, making sure you’re eating healthy fats. You’ve got to find a balance in that system. It’s worked well for me.”
Cate Shanahan, M.D. lists the following advantages she has seen from the team since adopting her dietary approach: “What I’ve heard most often from the players is that they experience more energy and less JOINT PAIN. I’ve also seen numerous metabolic parameters improve, including markers of cardiovascular health.
LA Laker and Argentine champion Luis Scola said: “I feel so much better that I’m never coming back. You can’t go back. That’s what I tell the guys that are trying it. … If I eat the things that I used to eat before, that’s when I start feeling really bad. So once you start doing it and you do it for a long time, you can’t stop. Because if you go back, you feel it.”
